School me on doves

Thorn tree thickets are killer roost sites for doves. Water sources, especially ones with fine gravel in the area can be hot as well. Phsssh…you find a pond lined with thorn trees growing in fine gravel or sand and you will melt your barrel. As others have mentioned, for pass shooting first weekend will be the best as everyone keeps the doves circulating all day, vice just in the AM and PM. We always marinated the breast’s in Italian dressing and red wine in the fridge for a couple of days, wrap in bacon on a kabob skewer and grill on hot grill medium rare. Some people put jalapeños and cream cheese in the wrap as well. Hard to beat!!!

I'm sorry, but if you had to have pellets dug out they were a lot closer than 90 yards. I've been peppered from 100 to 60 yards (most with #5 or #4 pheasant loads) and have yet to dig out pellets. Was the guy shooting buckshot?
Yes I’m sure he was closer, thinking of it now definitely, as a 16 year old I wasn’t the best at judging distance, nor did the distance matter to my dad, fact was they were in there.

100%, no Bueno.

Before I was allowed to hunt pay fields with dad, they had a friend get hit with a pellet that went through his cheek and he was able to spit the pellet out. Apparently, he was cussing up a storm and dad had asked if he got peppered. His response was, "Peppered!? Hell I'm hit!!!"
