Score of the day!

In all seriousness....if it's discreet and not an eye sore like a small tack I'll walk by but if u are flagging the parking area or a road/firelane or something else totally rediculus I'll snag those....as soon as hunting season is over they all fair game....

I'm slowly replacing my flagging tape with crepe paper streamers. The post-Halloween sales should be full of orange paper for cheap. If I miss a few pieces when I police them back up, I don't beat myself up too hard because they'll decompose along with the leaves.

When I lived in AZ I found a bunch of old mining and pioneer stuff. Glass Clorox bottle from the '20s, pick and ax heads, abandoned mine shafts, steam or horse-powered equipment left to rust, stuff like that. It was close to the border so a lot of smuggling-related trash, trashed/torched/shot-up stolen trucks, etc. No drugs or guns or cash or dead aliens.

Where I used to hunt on the North Shore I found a really nice old brush blind on a ridgeline overlooking a sort of bowl. Folding chair tucked in to a small spruce copse, with branches trimmed to hide the hunter. It was a bit overgrown so I was sure it hadn't been hunted in a while. Did some fresh trimming and sat in it a few times, but never shot anything from it. Also found some old foundations.

A few years back I got drawn for a city hunt. Never saw a deer but stumbled across a small-time cannabis grow. Not legal in MN, doubly so because it was on posted airport property. Called a guy I know on the local dope squad and after a short deliberation ("Do we want to seize this now, or work it and catch the guy later?") I helped haul all the plants (and trail cameras and fertilizer and whatnot) to his truck.

Craziest thing I ever found, hands down.

Walked in to a place. Hunted. Walked out. Right on my tracks on the edge of the swamp was a dead spike. Still warm and limber. No signs of a bullet or broadhead.

I left it there and hurried back to the truck before the aliens abducted me
Were his nutts busted?

He looked healthy as a horse. Except for the being dead bit.

My guess in hindsight is somebody put a .22lr in him that I missed or something
Could have gotten tagged by a motorist and then run off and died hours later. I know I've smacked more than a few that I didn't think should have been able to walk away, yet they were able to sprint. Every car-struck deer I've cut on (yes, I'll process fresh roadkill) had just massive internal injuries - ruptured paunches, shredded ribs, etc. One had partially-digested food between the lungs. Anymore, I do gutless method on these.

about 30 years ago my uncle was hunting and exploring some public land he'd never been to before. He found a ground blind built between two trees, made of sticks and branches stacked about 3 feet high or so. Inside it has a slight depression, so when you're sitting in it only your shoulders and head stick out above the walls. He shot a monster buck there that day that hangs on his wall at home.

We are still using that blind, and he has taken plenty of good bucks out of it. I've seen good bucks but never had a clear shot, though I did get my first doe out of it two years ago. Almost every time I sit in that blind I see deer. It's been a pretty good find!

Probably saw you walk in with the mini and figured his time was done anyways and wanted to make it easier on you. However, that is a little spooky
