I just tried mine out yesterday and it was great - super light and very practical for a saddle/sling setup. I comfortably used it for around 4 to 5 hours with no issues. I got the straight platform - you can comfortably use it as a lean when you put your toes on the tree or the arch of your foot on the edge of platform. Good Luck

With the cam strap in the middle of the stick I’m worried about it kicking out with side pressure.

I sat in it today for 6 hours and it was very solid on my stick - no issues what so ever - unless you don't cam it down tightly and set it (pull the stick down before you step) then I think any stick will kick out. There's also another similar but different stick platform Artisan Outdoor Fabricators (longer length but not the depth of the platform is less than the OOAL). The second link shows how some guys are combining the two - good luck
