Secondary safety tie off.

As I'm sitting in a tree in the saddle this morning I am wondering do any of u guys have a secondary safety tie off attached to u somewhere just in case a fall did happen. Like if a rope had a cut on it and it broke.

Yes. I do. Especially if I'm rope ascending and descending. Sometimes the secondary tie off is just in the way, but I usually tie it above knee height

I don't always do this but sometimes I just feel the need. I don't usually question my first inclination to do something that might save my life. It doesn't hurt to have it there just in case

I don't. I always use a lineman's belt when I am connecting and disconnecting my tree strap, but once the tree strap is up, I have 100% confidence in it. It is important to routinely inspect your gear to maintain that confidence.
 
Depends. Sometimes your equipment look fine then you get out there and feel a flat spot in your core. In those cases I double up.
 
This has crossed my mind. Haven't done it but have considered.

For those of you using fixed blade broadheads, have you considered that you could easily slide your bridge/rope hookup if not careful?

I think I am going to start tying off with my climb line and tree strap next season, for this reason.
 
I don't really see this as a likely scenario. My tether goes straight from the side bag on my saddle to the tree. At the end of the hunt it goes straight back into the accessory bag. It's stored in the bag until the next hunt. It's never in contact with other gear that could damage it and I don't put it in a situation where it could be compromised. The tether isn't used for anything except a tree tether. I inspect it several times throughout the season and have never been nervous or worried that it wouldn't work for its intended purpose. I'm all for safety but I'm not overly concerned.

I have been using a safety systems 35ft rope with pruisit knot for hunting out of standard climbers. The idea behind it is hunting by yourself if you fall you have the ability to lower yourself down. I noticed in some other threads guys talking about repelling down so I thought when I get mine I may use that as a secondary tie off and easier descent down.

Any thoughts?

That's what some of us are doing. I sometimes use the rope ascent and descent. But even if I'm using my spikes I will usually descend with grigri2 on my rope. I'm not as fond of carrying sticks but I will sometimes use rope steps. The rope descent is a lot safer I think than the other methods. When you first experimenting with rope climbing and descending, I would use two prussic knots (one at the bridge and one at my right hip) and use one hand to"squeeze"each to descend. The second one can serve as secondary tie off while hunting.
