Self-filmed Saddle Hunts

Who said anything about hunting effectively!
Ive said it before and I'll say it again. Its the hardest thing you'll ever do tryna self film but when it comes together there's nuthin better.

I have killed a PnY on a DIY hunt. Was on Private land but it was just a farm i was granted access to for a few days. Was able to scout from the ground and kill that buck on a hang n hunt on the 2nd day...that being said...the first doe I kill on Public land self filmed from a saddle...will probably replace that as my biggest hunting accomplishment.

Wow, I have my hands full just trying to get a shot off without spooking the deer. A tip of the hat to those that can film and still hunt effectively.
It definitely can be a burden at times, but most of the time I find it has little to no effect on my ability to get a shot off. One of my biggest struggles self-filming is hauling all the camera gear in. This is what has drawn me to saddle hunting. No more 35-40lbs of extra weight, rather it should total to just 10-15lbs of extra weight. I have hopes of getting to saddle hunt this season but I am waiting for some things to sell so I can afford it.

where do you guys hang your pack? I have been hanging my pack just below my tether at head height at 3:00. Im planning on putting the camera base at knee height at 3:00. Does the pack interfere with the camera? I have the 4th arrow camera arm so i suppose i could hang it on the camera base but i feel like that would be too low for me to access stuff from it.

I think that's really going to depend on few variables. Size of pack for one. Tether height, the tree etc. I don't think I hung my pack the same way twice last year. My tether height is also lower by the sounds of things like chin height.

I played around more with this yesterday. I think Ive found a good solution. I have a normal sized pack i would say. Like 2ft tall. Right now my tether is about Eye level. I used to hang my accessory strap under the tether. Now i tried it above my tether. It gave me the clearance i needed for the camera but the downside is that i lose some vision. but that also adds to concealment i suppose. Having the pack at 3:00 doesnt impede any of my shots though.

This is me filming a pal the old way from our lone wolf stands

I carried all my junk in a good dozen times and never saw a deer during filming light. Probably hunted another 20 times without my gear and saw deer all but a couple. I may give it a shot this year when it cools off some.
