Dave I use a tiny Canon Vixia HFR70 camera. It's really small and and weighs very little.
I like both Sony and Canon. It really depends on what you want out of gear.BTW - my shots are usually 15 yards from tree and I film other deer walking by... true it is not TV worthy but I can get them relatively close. So if I go camera I guess sony is the way to go?

It's not the camera that is going to be your weight and bulk problem, especially if you go with one like @g2outdoors has, it's the camera arm and mount. Even though the fourth arrow stuff is lighter and better than anything on the market, you're going to be in shock when it gets to your door. I'm seriously considering selling off mine.
I've been guilty of leaving my stuff at home. I'm still kicking myself a few times. I wish I had footage of some of those days I got lazy. It's not the camera that is going to be your weight and bulk problem, especially if you go with one like @g2outdoors has, it's the camera arm and mount. Lol. No issues putting out raw clips. Not everyone has a studio like g2.Oh I have no plans on editing anything. My video is always loaded just as shot. Perhaps I need to reconsider lol

I didn't mean to put a downer on it Dave. Just giving you my honest opinion. I started out self filming last year and I was pretty shocked at the extra bulk that I was carrying into the woods. I don't mind my camera at all but the arm and fluid head aren't that compact. That's what I was afraid of - oh well if it is too heavy I will sell it. I really don't care about filming my hunts - others have been asking me to supplement my scouting videos with kill videos (which I would not have had any last year outside of 4 doe kills). I think some might be a little surprised at a couple studs I had close but no shot last season.
That's exactly what happened to me. I ended up only having my equipment on half my kills last year and only got one on film. I easily decided to leave it in the truck when I killed my buck on that day in the teens lol.I've been guilty of leaving my stuff at home. I'm still kicking myself a few times. I'm sure I could coax him into making me one if I decide I want to use itGarret made a nice base for the 4th arrow arm that’s around half the original weight (I think).. you may check with him to see if he would make you one to cut your weight if you’re considering quitting.

I find its a lot like personal fitness. The more you do it. The more you love it. If you fall off the wagon, it's tough to get going again. Small bits of positive reinforcement go a long way. I imagine sharing your content fuels the addiction. I'm hoping to take that plunge this year rather than keeping everything in my inner circle. That's exactly what happened to me. I'll show you mine if you show me yours. LOL. You're probably right. Editing video has been a hurdle for me to make anything worth showing anyone. I definitely have a couple decent things in the vault but I haven't had the time or energy to produce them into anything.I find its a lot like personal fitness. The more you do it. I'm sure its a good camera. I have the HC-V770. The only thing I wish I had known before I bought it was that there isn't a remove zoom for it. That would be really handy for hunting, I know @BassBoysLLP is running one. But as far as footage for the size of the camera I've very happy with mine. What about this one
