Setup idea

When I get my saddle in I was thinking of running a setup like this: 5 lone wolf sticks with rope that will reach around those big ol fence line oaks; ameristeps on a strap for a platform(not with a ratchet) something quieter, like a folding buckle or something; at the end of the hunt just stuff all the lone wolf ropes in a bag so I can get out quicker like. Sounds interesting to me, I like the big platform idea but want to carry less. What are y'all's thoughts?

I think you're going to have to figure out exactly what you want. I don't think the same thing is going to work for everyone(obvious).

I believe the enjoyment of your hunt will be based off of how packable and easy your equipment sets up. If you fight it like heck, you're not going to enjoy it much, imo.

be sure to share your experiences! Good luck!

That will work. You'll want to find a way that works for you to carry your sticks. Lots of threads on here. Also look at the boat buckle thread for attaching your ameristeps as an alternative to a ratchet strap.

Yea, everyone I've talked to says these saddles are crazy, but I can't wait to try it out !
I think after a few sits you will think those people are crazy for not considering this, especially from the safety side of the conversation. Most safe by far that I have ever been when I hunt. Well I guess not compared to a ground blind!

The only way I found to get my ameristeps tight is with a ratchet strap. There may be another way come to think of it it is a strap off a old loggy Bayou hang on stand. They had a system where you could hang multiple brackets and just drop your hang on stand in. The strap on the bracket had a buckle that you could actually kind of ratchet it tight but it was very quiet and it had key so it would not open. Might have to try that. Thanks for jarring my memory.

I think I've seen pictures of that.. .wasn't it just a large overcenter buckle?

The boat buckle is the ticket. Quiet, light and tight.
