Looking to buy a machine. Plan on sewing packs and other hunting related items. Found a used singer on Craigslist for 50 bucks. Guy said it works but could use a new belt. I see them ranging from 30 not working to 250. Can you guys point me in the right direction. Any years or Models to avoid. My sister has a machine I can borrow but it’s a newer plastic machine and I am not sure it can handle webbing and stuff like that. I was going to go check out the one listed for 50 but I don’t know if I can get a replacement belt for it. Any help is appreciate.

IMHO, you want a Singer 15-91 model. it has a direct gear drive motor, no belt to slip. you can find them for $50-$100 in working order.
I just picked up a singer 101 gear drive(metal) at a thrift shop for $20. deals can definitely be had if you keep your eyes open!

Thanks guys I’m going to check a local thrift shop and if that doesn’t work out I’ll check out the one on Craigslist.
