Can the singer 4452 get the job done? Does anyone use this machine? What all have you made with it?

Considering what it would look like to make my own saddle.

I have a 4423 which is the same machine just less stitch options and a few less accessories.
I’ve sown through two layers of straps with a layer of fabric in between but that’s about all I was able to get through. Doubling a strap back on itself and sewing stitching through that was pretty difficult and often times failed if the strap was thick material. I’d say if you wanted to just sew straps on bags or do clothing repairs which is what I got it for it works well but for building a saddle I’m not sure as I haven’t gone that route. Just my 2 cents.

You will find it lacking if you are trying to sew a saddle. If you haven’t spent coin yet and don’t want to go right to an industrial triple feed, a Singer 15-91 has been successfully used to build saddles. It is vintage domestic. In the domestic models, it is probably your best choice.

You should be able to find a singer 15-91 used on Craig’s list or Facebook marketplace place for less than a singer you mentioned.

I just posted a link for a free singer 15-91 in Sussex, NJ
