Tonight was my first night with the shikar mini. I had been using either a full sized helium with a loop or a 5 step etrier with a webbing loop to girth hitch to the tree.

I love the shikar mini, I can pack it up as soon as I get to hunting height, one less thing to deal with on the way back down. Packs up tiny, super light, packs flat. I dig it.

I will probably make my own 3 step aider from 1" webbing tomorrow as the cheap 5 step didnt stay wide enough on my boots for the top step and I didn't use the bottom step.

I made a 2 step aider for mine, about 40 inches hanging from the bottom plus the mini stick works for me. Id probably only use the 3rd step on the initial set at the bottom of the tree so wasn’t worth the trouble on a DIY project. I added a scout to the top step and that killed the packability so I just grab it as I rappel back down.

I've got the solo scout, and its great on small trees but most trees i hunt are too big and it kills my feet. Brilliant idea though. I'm going to stick with 3 steps only because I'm packing up before I hunt, if not 2 would make sense. Thanks for the input.

Glad you like the mini. Did you add a cam cleat or just use it with the versa button? Trying to determine what I want to do for a one stick solution.

I kept the button, tried to use it with an amsteel whoopie sling, didn't like it much, so I made an amsteel daisy chain today that should be good to go.
