Thanks to @kyler1945 and his thread on archery practice, he got me thinking and I've decided to add long distance shooting to my shooting sessions.
My practice sessions are meant to replicate hunting scenarios so I shoot from a setup exactly how I would be if it was during the season meaning I'm up at hunting height and on my ring of steps. The only gear missing is my pack and camo. I feel practicing this way helps to ingrain a consistent routine setting up and makes the process second nature when the season arrives.
I have multiple targets set up at varying ranges out to 35 yards (self imposed max hunting shot distance) with the majority of them at those in between ranges. Every so often I shuffle the targets to new spots to keep me honest and to make sure I'm shooting at all angles. Each time in the tree I also stand at a different location on the steps to ensure I'm not subconsciously favoring a certain shooting angle or position.
So getting back to the main point of this thread, what would be a good functional sight for long distance shots, say to 80-90 yards? Two of my bows currently have EZV sights which max out at 60 yards but they don't allow for precise aiming like a pin does at the further distances and my other bow is set up heavy and the pins max out at 50 yards. My plan is to set up one bow for long range shooting by swapping out the EZV and dropping arrow weight to 450 grains.
Should I get a single pin slider or the usual 5 pin? Or is there another style of sight better suited for my usage?
