Thermacel! Other than that I cant be much help, I have hunted southern maryland swampland and never killed a sika, they are nocturnal little bastards this time of year.

We are just getting back. We ended up meeting some other saddle hunters there. I had a hang time shirt on and they shouted “Hey Saddle Hunters!” Lol.
When did you get there? The rut hadn’t kicked off yet but was just getting warmed up. You should hit it perfect.
@redsquirrel killed a spike and I missed a hind. It’s like a rabbit hunt. They pop in and out of the grass so fast. It’s like the raptors in Jurassic park. All you see it the marsh grass moving and they are 10 yards from you and you never see them. Lol they are some cool little critters. Had a blast. Wind was strong most of our hunt. But that kept the mosquitoes away. The minute it died down we got tore up. Thermacell worked while in the tree but on the ground getting ready to climb or packing up they were horrible. Red has some sawyers mosquito repellent that worked really well there. But if you missed a spot, that spot got tore up. Like my elbows and the back of my neck, lol.

I am about a 2 hour drive, leaving early morning tomorrow, I just read a lot about waiting until temps hit low 50's at night, and early -mid october. I am amped up to try it out for the first time.

We have some sika here in DE (I’m only about 30-60 minutes from where you’ll be hunting) and I have only seen them twice. Would shoot one in a heartbeat. The two I saw were in some nasty wet boggy crap that even Dan Infalt would have thought twice about. Use plenty of Permethrin. Ticks will eat you alive until late November or early December. Temps have been cooler, so low 70s lol. Still sweaty and humid though. Bring waders too. And be ready for fast action! Some of the MD/DE border dwellers call sika “marsh ghosts” because they howl and moan for a female, but you only see them in flashes then they’re gone. Good luck!

We heard bugling every morning and night but they wasn't fired up just yet. Waders would have been weird while wearing a saddle. Hmmm I don't know. We wore hip boots. you can peel them down and cool off. I did hit a hole one morning that I'm not even sure waders would have helped me! lol . @redsquirrel is the sika whisperer! We split up to go scout and find a spot. We climb up a tree to see over the 8ft frags and we are 50 yards from each other! LMAO I hear several in the grass and water but never see them and he sees 3 out of bow range. Sika Whisperer I tell ya!

We had a blast, as good of a time in camp as hunting. I saw a good stag out of range the first morning, heard a lot of hinds talking that I never saw and heard some bugling. The bugling seemed to be picking up on our last day, but it wasn't as hot as the same days last year. I shot my spike on Tuesday morning.

How was the pressure? You guys walk in or use a boat? My mom lives on the shore and I keep telling myself I’m gonna get back there someday
