Single bevel broadheads

HES SAYIN TRAD LIFE IS THE BAD LIFE... HOSS! :tearsofjoy:
Oh, I thought he was bad mouthing wood arras. I was about to get all ruffled. :p

A buddy of mine that hunts down in Tx shot a big doe with one of my heads a few days ago. Back of the lungs going in and exited off side arm pit. He said he couldnt find a drop of blood for like 25 yards or so and from there you couldnt not find it cause it was blowing out all over everything. Our guess is a piece of tissue of some sort plugged the hole for a bit and then cleared. Deer only went 50 so it wasnt a big deal either way but like you mentioned all sorts of things can happen with every head out there. Sharp and in the right spot is about all we can hope to control and we cant always control that cause the critter gets a vote too.

Dude some of those heads are straight trash. I liked wood arras though when I was shooting the stick

Curious which heads you are referring too. I could make that argument for original woodsman heads. Not sure how you get such a poor bevel on a head without trying. Great head though if you dont mind working on them a bit. Some folks feel that way about zwickey heads cause they are cheap and not machined. Funny you mentioned the montec heads. The originals were one of my least favorite heads of all time.

Havent shot trad in probably 20 years but anything with a glue in ferrule. Zwicky, magnus, I think there was another. Im sure they were fine in the 70's but c'mon man. They held an edge but so does metal band if you get it sharp. No durability at all ime.

I had to tell a buddy of mine I wasnt getting out of the tree for anymore Montec shot deer. 4 good shots with little to no blood trail. Where we are at is fairly thick but we should of just walked to them not struggled to find them. That was less than 10 yrs ago.

There was an old head called a Sasquatch that was big and scary. Left a pretty decent trail. I see they are done now as well.

You maybe referring to Stos or Ace to go along with zwickey and magnus. Guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this subject. In the last 30 years I would say there have been WAY more total crap replaceable blade or mechanical heads produced. The fact that zwickey, ace and magnus are still around says they are pretty good heads. There, without question, are also heads available now that imo are monumentally better heads than anything previously produced. Given a choice, I would take the old glue on snuffer or a simmons over anything else currently produced and I own original silver flames and day 6 evo x's.

I would love to see a body count on these three heads versus all other manufacturers. Especially Zwickey, they've been killing critters for almost 100 years.
NAP(thunderhead and spitfire) and muzzy are the only ones I can think of that would be even close to comparable, esp if we are talking total body count.
