What’s the advantage of the the shorter stick other than weight? Why not use a regular stick? Will a shorter stick have less change of a kick out when using 2-3 step aider?? I’m thinking about the shorter stick, the full length stick worked good last season with a one step aider

I think most go with a shorter stick for packability. It's a lot easier to strap a short stick to your pack.

I would also think a kick out might be a little harder on a shorter stick if you have your weight already on an aider hanging off the bottom too. I could be wrong about that though.

From the videos (haven't tried it yet) I have seen maneuverability has been mentioned a lot. I am sure weight is a factor as well.

I guess we all have time during the summer to try new things, Single sticking so far has been the best climbing method I’ve tried and I’ve been hunting a long time

I would definitely say packability and maneuverability. You have to do a lot of stick retrieval, turning, and sometimes flipping (of the stick) if it gets away from you and a longer one is just going to be noisier and more unwieldy. It’s also easier to climb on the shorter one, but I’m not sure there is a kick out advantage at all.

Long or short stick is better than trying to set a line in the dark.
Especially on the trees in Wisconsin, brushy dogs.
Lots of throw ball system demo videos omit the throwing part and start with the line set. Also the demo trees look like they have been pruned regularly..

One stik or set of stiks for me..

I use a 22" beast with a short aider. I fair well with it and can't compare to a shorty as I don't have one.
