Sit Drag/RCH Linesman Belt

I’m new to saddle hunting and I’d like to try out the sitdrag/RCH method as a way of getting my feet wet. My plan (when at hunting height) is to attach my tree tether to my sit drag via pussik and have my RCH also hooked into my tree tether (with slack) for added safety. I saw it in a diy sportsman’s video and it seemlike the way to go.

Now my question is about my linesman belt. I haven’t seen many RCH’s that have rated hip loops. I’ve seen guys thread webbing around there RCH to make their own linesman belt. I’ve also heard of people installing a buckle in there sitdrag (just to keep it around their waist) and using the sitdrag as the linesman belt. Obviously neither method is as safe as having a legitimate linesman belt but which do you all prefer? Some people say threading webbing around the waist of a RCH is not safe because only the belay lope is meant to support weight. Other people say that they would not trust the sitdrag to be used as a linesman belt.

Thanks in advance for the help

I threaded webbing around and tied the two ends together so it goes though the belay loop. My thought is that even if the gear loops fail it'll still be in the belay loop.

Depending on your size but for me my first saddle sit was in a sit/drag and that was very very uncomfortable, terrible hip pinch! Before giving up on saddles I bought minimum material and built one, that's a night and day difference in comfort.

I've never tried it but I guess a cheap fleece saddle is very comfortable

Me too. Got some climbing rated webbing and using the gear loops and straps on my RCH along with a water knot I made loops to hook my lineman into. Added a climbing rated ring in each side.
