Im not a fan of snakes so much, so I did some research and learned where I live there are only two poisonous snakes- copperhead and water moccasins. After learning to identify them I’m much more at ease when I come across snakes

It’s either a ribbon snake or garter snake. A ribbon snake will have white scales on its face just in front of its eyes. (I took a graduate level herpetology course in college)

Garter snakes are notorious for flattening their bodies out to make them look fatter than they are. Cool snake for sure.
