So I have been looking for brackets

How much do these weigh? And how wide are they? They look huge in the pics.
I probably wouldn’t consider these over a platform for run-n-gun, but a few pinch point trees pre prepped might not be too bad for trying them out.

They probably weigh 4 or 5 ounces. They are bit over 3 inches by 3 inches in size.

Am I the only one having trouble ordering them? I ordered some on amazon and I didn’t pay attention to the ship date......I logged on to amazon tonight wondering where they are since I ordered them last week and I got some kind of China post tracking number. I guess they’re coming straight from the manufacturer????

@justin.dunn.77377 , they are coming from China. It took a while when I ordered them but they eventually got there. First time it was stuck in customs because they coded it incorrectly. Second time it got here relatively quickly though. Pete

There are a few sellers on ebay that have them for less than 5 bucks with free shipping.

One of the reasons I like eBay over Amazon. I can see where the item is coming from. Although I have gotten items from China quickly, I only order it from there if i'm not in a hurry.

This is the first thing I’ve ordered on amazon that came directly from China. Normally everything on amazon I get 2 day shipping with amazon prime.

Yet another example of how influential this saddlehunter.com community is in the market place LOL. Was looking for these brackets and saw this at the bottom.

That is a great question. I am going to try the wild edge steps though. The brackets are probably a bit faster to setup and I do not have to worry about placement as much. However, the steps pack better for the hike and the climb up the tree. One last hing dangling off of me while I climb is important. I have gotten pretty fast at setting steps. I do it in fifteen seconds if I am perfect maybe forty five seconds if I really have a hard time for some reason. So a minute and half to set up the platform worst case scenario is not the end of the world to me.

I am not sure which one is more comfortable. The brackets have a fairly large surface, especially if you space it in such a way the you can place one foot on two of them. However, the steps have a lot of surface area, probably more than the brackets. It may not look it but it really does work well for spreading the load of your weight. I will have to hunt several hours in both before I figure that one out.

I have some spare steps, so I plan to set a pair up as a permanent stand as well. I have enough corner brackets to set up a half dozen permanent stands, so they will get heavily tested this season. I am going to have at least seven permanent stands set up this year because these methods are so inexpensive. I have never had more than two spots, using traditional. Quite frankly, each method is so cost effective that by next year I will not have to run and gun because I will have twenty trees prepped with stands :)

Old thread but curious what your experience was during the season. Did you use them much or go with the stepps? I have made several platforms and curious to try something like this. When I first started this season used my primal steps to stand on but didn’t really like them with my rubber boots. Platform is comfortable but limiting maybe try a couple of these in conjunction with it.

I liked them for pre sets. Worked well, nice and stable.

You the man! Ordered some and a strap.

I have four sets scattered around the woods. Probably will make some more up. I have a half dozen extra WE Steps that I will use this season as well for presets. Tough to beat the WE Steps for a ring of steps in my opinion, but it gets a bit expensive once you need more than two on a tree. These brackets are cheap. For about thirty bucks you have fours steps to go around a tree with a strap.
