So could a soft shackle be used to hold a moveable aider on a stick instead of a biner or rope.

Here's a pic of the soft shackle and aider on my LW stick.

Yeah, it's cool how you attached it to the bolt inside the stick. I looped mine around the post and over the steps. Yours is more elegant.

I've been using these for the past 3 years and it's been flawless. Super fast deployment when needing additional height and easy stowing for stack and carry.

I bought some Hawk Helium sticks this year and basically did the exact same mod to them.

Those are slick... what is the loop coming from out of the stick made of?

So @ a touch over 8lbs for 3 sticks & aiders , what is typical climbing height??
I actually have four set up like that but believe it or not, I never got a true measure of height. I can tell you this though, I've got a 30' retractable rope and I've gotten close to maxing it out while standing on my platform. I would probably say on average of 25'.

They are Ronstan's 1/4" twisted D shackles. I bought a "create your color" Plastic Dip kit, mixed up an outdoor brown color and dipped them prior to installing. If you plan on dipping them, be sure to rough them up with heavy grit sandpaper so the plastic dip will adhere better.
