The Grigri + is different than the other 3 iterations of the Grigri, in that it has a mode sector knob to allow you to switch between top rope mode (which you want for saddle hunting), and lead mode (having someone on the bottom tending your belay. This mode also has smoother action than previous models. It will also accommodate a wider range of rope sizes (8.5-11mm).

The brake release also features a “panic” mode- if you pull it too hard it will lock out so you don’t fall. It’s the safest most versatile Grigri made.

I have three of these and two safeguards. They are hands down way smoother than the safeguard, which tends to be “on or off” when you start to rappel.

$115 tyd.

Is there a locking button to keep it in the selected mode?

Yes there is. As you see it in the pics below, it is in the locked position so he knob cannot be rotated. It takes a conscious effort to depress it, so it cannot be done accidentally. There is a fair amount of detent in the rotation, so again, another well thought out safety feature from Petzl.
