I made one out of 1/4 inch amsteel. I was gonna use it for the platform but I’ve only used it once. Seemed like the platform has some side movement and not snug enough to the tree.

Yeah, that's a large diameter for a daisy chain, it seems.

I used 1/8" to make a daisy chain for my sticks and then fitted my DIY versabutton height to the 1/8". I can rope mod perfectly with it (and find it better than a daisy chain or a rope mod with just plain amsteel).

With the daisy chain, I do the rope mod move, so it is tight, and then I attach a link of the daisy chain on the button, so you don't have to tie an overhand knot. The daisy chain brummel locks and double diameter provide increased friction on the tree and also under the versabutton where the two strands interact.

I was asked to take some pics of this for someone else. I'll try to remember to post them here also.

Pros and cons of using daisy chains

That’s it! A mechanical strap connection has much less slack. A daisy chain or versa strap is only tight-ish & weight “sets” the stick. The liability in the second scenario, no matter how tight you get the daisy chain/ versa strap there’s a little more slack in that system. Any upward movement...
