Spartan Forge Rant

Hunt Stand for me, does the job. But I also use Topo Maps+, do wish Hunt Stand's topo map was better, would show contour lines better when zooming in for a closer look

I have had that problem too. I did cancel my subscription, it's still good until October though. I've just been closing the app and reopening it. Still annoying.
Working theory is it has something to do with connection drop, like it fails to connect to home base and goes into error-correction mode. Which is really poor design. You should log in one time like all the other apps, then soldier on regardless of connectivity.

The other thing that bugs me, is I downloaded a map in-app and it seems SF has trouble switching from look-at-map-downloaded mode to look-at-map-from-network mode.

This is why I use all 3. I love my OnX because I’ve had it the longest, and I know where everything is. I use Spartan forge just for Lidar, because no matter how good you are at looking at Topos, Lidar is just plain and simple with all the details. I use HuntStand for the aerial maps. They have more detail than any of the others for me. I also just use the free version of HuntStand for that. I wish Onyx would get their maps together.

Ever since HS did the latest update, I’ve been researching whether to go with OnX or SF. I emailed HS about how terrible the update was but just got a generic response. Doesn’t sound like they will fix it.

You’re not a fan either huh? I’m surprised of the changes they did. Seems to me they took a couple of features out, combined a few more, and made the same things you did in the last version harder to do now. Having to go into multiple menus to do the same thing that only took a couple taps before. Navigation of the app is actually harder IMO. The layout looks prettier I guess but I’m not sure the changes are any better than what they had.

Yea it’s terrible. I feel like they took 3 steps back. The waypoints are way too big, when you go to add a waypoint, other waypoints disappear, the app glitches way more often and is significantly slower.

Hate to say but it is making me consider going back to On X. Not that On X is bad. I like it quite a bit actually, but at the time liked HuntStand more. But now… I dunno I’m having a hard time liking it the same way I did before.
