Working theory is it has something to do with connection drop, like it fails to connect to home base and goes into error-correction mode. Which is really poor design. You should log in one time like all the other apps, then soldier on regardless of connectivity.I have had that problem too. I did cancel my subscription, it's still good until October though. I've just been closing the app and reopening it. Still annoying.
You’re not a fan either huh? I’m surprised of the changes they did. Seems to me they took a couple of features out, combined a few more, and made the same things you did in the last version harder to do now. Having to go into multiple menus to do the same thing that only took a couple taps before. Navigation of the app is actually harder IMO. The layout looks prettier I guess but I’m not sure the changes are any better than what they had.Ever since HS did the latest update, I’ve been researching whether to go with OnX or SF. I emailed HS about how terrible the update was but just got a generic response. Doesn’t sound like they will fix it.
Yea it’s terrible. I feel like they took 3 steps back. The waypoints are way too big, when you go to add a waypoint, other waypoints disappear, the app glitches way more often and is significantly slower. You’re not a fan either huh? SameI agree. I wanted to like that app, used it in conjunction with OnX last season. Just couldn't do it anymore though. Cancelled my sub and went back to doing everything on OnX.
Hate to say but it is making me consider going back to On X. Not that On X is bad. I like it quite a bit actually, but at the time liked HuntStand more. But now… I dunno I’m having a hard time liking it the same way I did before.Yea it’s terrible. I feel like they took 3 steps back. And now topo map works on Apple Watch, which doesn't have a battery that lasts a month, but will l last a couple days, and i find it usefulHunt Stand for me, does the job. But I also use Topo Maps+, do wish Hunt Stand's topo map was better, would show contour lines better when zooming in for a closer look
They probably all will add lidar before too long.I subscribed to SF this year. LiDAR mapping is next level for me. i do find their pinpoint gps to be a little lacking. still using onX for my main app. I wish they would add LiDAR so I wouldn’t need both.
CalTopo has a free version and it’s lidar is way better than SFI subscribed to SF this year. LiDAR mapping is next level for me. i do find their pinpoint gps to be a little lacking. still using onX for my main app. I wish they would add LiDAR so I wouldn’t need both.
Amazing how people sleep on CalTopo. Not just the LIDAR, but the Global Imagery, which is often way crisper than any of the other three. Their Cell Coverage overall is also interesting, letting you know if you need to download a map or not in a remote area.CalTopo has a free version and it’s lidar is way better than SF
Yeah. I almost hate to mention it to people. It's an awesome tool.Amazing how people sleep on CalTopo. Yeah, I've found abandoned buildings, old roads, etc. in their imagery that don't show up on any other map. It's like finding ancient Mayan cities in the jungle.Yeah. I almost hate to mention it to people. It's an awesome tool.
I've found linear small "ridges/elevations" next to a hole on there only to go find a downed tree with a big root ball hole. It's nuts.Yeah, I've found abandoned buildings, old roads, etc. in their imagery that don't show up on any other map. It's like finding ancient Mayan cities in the jungle.
The road that's clearly visible on this Caltopo map, you'd have no idea even existed by just walking through there. Its completely overgrown and all but indiscernible as you walk through there but there's enough terrain feature still left that it shows up on the Caltopo map.Yeah, I've found abandoned buildings, old roads, etc. in their imagery that don't show up on any other map. So how do you turn on Lidar in the CalTopo app?Amazing how people sleep on CalTopo. Not just the LIDAR, but the Global Imagery, which is often way crisper than any of the other three.
