Many of us saddle hunters are already enjoying the benefits of squirrel steps as a climbing method. What I would like to know is what have yall come up with as a way to carry them? Are you using pouches on your saddle? WE step bag? cargo pockets? or something completely different?

I use the silent approach bags for mine. Be prepared to change out the zippers though.
are you wearing them walking to the tree your gonna hunt out of? Or putting them in a backpack until you get there? How do you like them?
I"ve got an old millitary surplus "medical" bag that is like a fanny pack witout straps. I put 12 strap on aluminum steps in it. It has strps to feed through a belt, or mollet straps or such. Works great. I"ll pull the army number off of it tonight. I think I paid $5 for it.
The fanny pack looks pretty nice, especially being able to separate right and left steps. I just wonder how comfortable it would be while wearing a saddle and a backpack.
If it isn't too much trouble and you get a second take a picture of it and post it. I had the same idea of either running one or two surplus pouch through a webbing belt and using it the same way as the silent approach fanny pack. Buying two of these would be the same price as the silent approach bag.
Another downside I am seeing with the fanny pack option is that it takes away from how compact the squirrel steps are compared to the bullman steps
I’m usually packing mine in. However, you could easily wear them in; it’s just easier for me to wear them once I get to the tree.
I have 10 total with straps in the bags and it’s just under 6 pounds so not bad at all for a compact climbing method.
The bag is ok as is but the zippers are junk and borderline worthless. I had to spend an extra $30 to get good workable zippers installed though. After the modification, they are a great option for these type steps.
Here it is. It's a "field pack" and pretty much a glorified dump pouch with lots of good compression. Keeps things from clanking around. Think in have 12 steps in there, with straps. 6.68lbs. It's approximately 12x6x6". Has hookups for shoulder strap, or sling, or pretty much waterever you could rig up.
Ive tried a couple things, including belt, but have found an old duffle bag style strap, carried like a purse on the back of my right hip(just behind linemans belt)when climbing work s the best. I either he been clipping it to the bottom of my pack to carry, or just throwing it in the pack on top.
