SRT..... rappelling device of Choice.

I attach a four wrap Klemhiest friction hitch above a figure 8 to repell, a three foot loop of rope with biner and a figure 8 is all you need.

I should add to above: Very few people can tell you how to do it right.........but, almost everyone can tell you how not to do it wrong. There is a big difference! LOL
I found this on Petzl's site when I was looking into this. Is this what you're talking about?

That's how I do mine. At the most you drop an inch or so as the rope tightens.

Anybody using a unicender? I know it's 3 times the price of the belay devices but hot damn does it look slick. Appears to be way easier to use than a rope runner or an akimbo. If I ever get rich and famous...

I climb with spurs but rappel down with the safeguard. When I first started experimenting with oplux I struggled finding a prussik that provided enough friction on it, which made an autoblock useless. It forced me to get smooth with the safeguard. I don't back it up.

A 35cm Beal Jammy works just fine as an autoblock on OpLux or Samson Ultratech in 8mm.

I have an ISC D2 mini descender specifically made for 8mm line coming. W.E.steps/knaider up and rappell down.
