Had anyone else seen these Scorpio steps? With the price of the originals these days, these look worth looking into. $85 for 10 steps and a bag. If you could find them somewhere other than ebay you could avoid the $50 shipping charge.

Somebody bought knock offs from that guy in Russia, or a different guy over here in the States. Look it up under gear reviews. They didnt work well on lose bark like a Pine. I can tell you one of the reasons the originals work so well is the points are sharp! Those Russian ones are flat on the ends, wont bite at all. I dont think the originals are priced that bad, I got 3 delivered for $35. Price out Ameristeps with a strap.

I bought a knock off set last year off eBay. They were called "trophy tree steps" . Looks like the same things listed now. They aren't as good as the original Stepps but they do work. I had to switch out the rope on all of them though, because they came with a wide stiff "rope"that just didn't work well. I think they were a little cheaper than they are now. If I remember, I paid around $100 for them including shipping.
I thought it was a pretty good buy, but I don't use very many of them. Once in a while I'll take a couple and use them. And I have a few trees set up with these in the tree permanently as platform.

I use the ameristeps myself. Actually sold all of my stepp ladders. I may be part of the problem though, I got $20 apiece for them

Don't buy the knock-offs. Pay a little more and get the originals. I bought the Trophy Tree Stepps from Jeff Sondles and I was not fully satisfied with the product because they didn't work well on pine trees with loose bark. Jeff took my money and ran. No offer for a refund, no offer to "make things right"...nothin'! I had to resell them on eBay and took a $50 loss. Lesson learned...don't do business with that jack@$$!

Guess I'm confused..... If they were that bad why would you sell them to someone else? Hopefully the guy that bought then wont get too upset.

The steps weren't bad, they just didn't suit my hunting style or my situation. The steps did what they were supposed to and would work fine on hardwood trees. However, most of my hunting is done out of loose bark pine trees because I live in the south, and hunt a lot of pine plantations. Also, they took way to long to get adjusted properly. Unfortunately, you don't know if a product is going to suit your needs until you try it out. I tried those steps and they weren't for me.

I contacted Mr. Sondles and told him about my situation, and his response was (and I'm copying this from his email), "I am not a Cabela's, that can offer refunds on anything they sell." He doesn't care if you're satisfied with his product or not, he only cares about getting your money. The only way I could recover some money was to sell them to someone else. Hopefully the steps suited their needs better than mine, but I took a $50 loss just to try out a product, and found out Mr. Sondles is a complete jack@$$. So if anyone buys Stepps, I do not recommend buying the Trophy Tree Steps, because the customer service is terrible! Get the original Jim Stepps. They may be a little more money, but at least you're not giving your money to a copy-cat jack@$$ who only wants to get your money and doesn't care about your satisfaction. Hope that clears things up.
