Struggling a little.....

New to the saddle world this year, and so far I have enjoyed the saddle hunt itself.....no luck yet out of the saddle, but things are starting to move in my area so hopefully can make something happen......

I am struggling a little with my placement of stuff on the tree. It always seems I have something in the way and I wanted to ask you all for your opinion or suggestions.

When I climb the tree, I place my platform about 6 inches above my last top step of my sticks. I think I am going to try and make it level next sit to have a flat transition. Now what I am struggling with is where to store everything. As of right now, I have a smaller pack (looking to move up). As I hunt a lot of public, my walk back is normally of some distance so I like to pack in and then get everything situated at the tree....not the best option, but the only way I can keep my scent down as much as possible.

I place my tree strap above my tether, but it just seems it sits in the way. I want to have access to my bag as I have my range finder, binoculars, etc.....but don't want it in the way. And with looking at a bigger style bag, I am concerned it will just be in the way more. I forgot to take pictures so I can't post how I set up, but just wondering if anyone else had some ideas or suggestions to make it easier to have access to the bag, but be somewhat out of the way.

Best thing I've done is to give my bag its own built in hanging system that is separate from the strap that holds my bow and accessories.

I have a length of paracord long enough to go around any tree I'll climb tied to the top handle of my pack and a nite ize camjam on that paracord and a knot on the end of the paracord so I can't lose the camjam.

The paracord/camjam stays in the top pocket of my bag (with it sneaking out through the zipper to where it is tied to the top of pack). This is deployed and wrapped around the tree and camjam clipped back to the paracord. The length can then be adjusted. This is placed at around 3 to 2 o clock on the tree and right above knee height.

I made an amsteel daisy chain accessory holder that also uses a camjam.

It is basically this.

I have 3 nit ize s biners on it that I use to hang rangefinder, etc.

You can put a hero clip on this for a bow holder, but I MUCH prefer semi permanently mounting a hook on the bow riser and then hooking that onto the amsteel gear hanger. It just seems much more secure. My bowtech has a perfect place to do this, but people have made them out of kydex and mounted beneath their quiver.

Having the bag holder independent of your bow holder allows a degree of freedom in placement. Also, if your bow and bag shares a strap, then moving/removing the bag can shake your bow loose and then it falls and breaks.
