Now that most hunting seasons are over or close to the end,..get some judo’s or Ace Hex Heads or blunts of some kind and hit the woods and shoot stumps. There is no better practice period. Shoot ar various distances and positions. Much better and more fun than shooting targets.
I spent a couple hours in the woods today hunting stumps, clumps of leaves, spots of bare ground, old balloons on the ground. I spent about 30 minutes shooting back and forth between two stumps about 70 yards apart with my Longbow. I would never take that shot on a deer, but stumps are fair game.
I got to shoot down hill and uphill. Between trees and through brush and around sticks and branches. You can’t get that kind of practice even at a 3D course.
Don’t worry about breaking arras, stumps are pretty soft this time of the year in most places. I had one insert back out when I hit something solid. I use hot melt so it’s an easy fix.
Trust me, it’s fun and the best practice you can get with these trad bows.
