Tying a prusik to tether, different diameter?
YESFollow up question - the smaller diameter prussic rope will now be the weakest part of the system. So, shouldn’t we be very interested in the fall rating of our prussic ropes and not only the rating of the tether rope?
Absolutely. Do some research. Looking at a prussic you would think that they would be twice as strong as the rated strength but that is not the case. Some accessory cord is suitable for a prussic but not all. That said we don’t heat one up like someone rappelling would. Yale bee line is what I use. It’s rated for 8000 lbs and isn’t cheap but you don’t need much rope to tie one.Follow up question - the smaller diameter prussic rope will now be the weakest part of the system.
