Stupid rope question 2

Always heard prusik should be 80% the line its going on. 10mm rope means 8mm prusik

Follow up question - the smaller diameter prussic rope will now be the weakest part of the system. So, shouldn’t we be very interested in the fall rating of our prussic ropes and not only the rating of the tether rope?

Absolutely. Do some research. Looking at a prussic you would think that they would be twice as strong as the rated strength but that is not the case. Some accessory cord is suitable for a prussic but not all. That said we don’t heat one up like someone rappelling would. Yale bee line is what I use. It’s rated for 8000 lbs and isn’t cheap but you don’t need much rope to tie one.

And I think I saw something about tying a loop on the tag end of the tether rope and running it through the bridge and back to the carabiner on the tether. But I can’t picture it in my mind right now and don’t have time to look it up.
