substitute descender device for madrock safeguard

I bought and used Grivel figure 8 with auto block because I couldn’t find Madrock Safeguard anywhere until I found one online a couple of days ago. Should be here by Monday or Tuesday but the figure 8 with auto block is not a bad option and it’s very inexpensive. Lots of How To videos online on how to use the figure 8 for saddle hunting.

I found safeguard on a site called balancecommunity.com. I searched a long time to find one. Not sure how many they have in stock but I ordered mine a couple of days ago and it’s on its way to be here by Monday. In case anyone is interested in knowing where to buy one.

I'm looking on there site and I don't see it. Do you have the link for it?

Yep, you are correct. I just checked and they seem to be out again. They have a live chat on the website and would likely try to get one in for you though. That’s how I got it. Balancecommunity.com

SniperBBB, how do you rappel down using a Grigri with a Swabish above the Grigri? Wouldn't you have to use one hand for the handle of the Grigri and another hand to push the autoblock towards the Grigri to be able to rappel?

With your weight on the grigri, you would push down on the hitch towards end of the device to descend, letting go of handle or hitch will bring you to a stop.

Dont practice until you get it right...practice until you cant get it wrong~ Peace
