Looking to get my first can soon. Wanting dedicated 30cal for now for either my 7.62x39 or 300blk uppers.

Anyone have experience with the rugged razor762 or the hyperion/hyperion k? Those seem to be the two that I keep coming back to. Pew science doesn't give the razor a great suppression review but it's moderately priced. ($650 on silencer shop right now)

Trying to keep it around 1k (before tax stamp)

This question will get you similar reactions to asking if Hoyt, PSE, Bowtech or Mathews is the best or "worth it".

The best suggestion I can make for you is to call silencer shop and discuss what you want to do with your suppressor and what platforms it will be getting attached to.

Here is a current special on free tax stamp items on the site.

Another option for saving some dough is to go the Form 1 route and build it yourself. There are companies out there like QuietBore (affiliated with Creative Arms) that make it super easy.

It's been about 4 years, but I went with Form 1 and ordered the parts from a company in Oregon, called Solvent Traps Direct.
I went with a 10" titanium tube with titanium end caps and all stainless steel spacers and cones for the internals. I had about $450 in it. I bored it out for .243 caliber and use it on my 22-250 and 17 HMR.

The best part of Form 1 is that I was approved in 16 days.
That 7 to 9 month wait is total BS!!!
Suppressors should fall under the Hearing Protection Act H.B 152. :) Then it would be nothing more than a firearm accessory, that could be purchased at any gun store....minus the Federal Tax Stamp AND the prolonged waiting period. o_O

I went with the Griffin Reece 7 ($738 on SS) and I love it. 220gr subs from my 8" 300blk are Hollywood silent. The bolt cycling is the loudest part. The Reece uses a taper lock QD muzzle device so I can swap between rifles. It's surprisingly effective on .223/5.56 calibers as well and renders them plenty quiet enough for shooting without ear pro. I want to get a shorty .308 for hunting purposes so the can doesn't add much more bulk than a standard rifle barrel. I've seen complaints from some about the weight out front but its not really noticeable during general use. If anything, it seems to keep my aim more steady. I guess it could be compared to how an O/U shotgun seems to point better than a semi/pump with the added mass.

Check on the accuracy of the can. They all don’t shoot the same. Some are known to be less accurate with use than others.

Form 1s are much more difficult these days. They really cut down on the "suppressor kits".

I own 2 SilencerCo Omega 300s. If I were buying another can or my first can today I'd be buying the Scythe-Ti for a hunting rifle or the Omega 36M for a multi-purpose can.

Kinda bumping this thread.

Bought an Aero precision LAHAR-30L for the price of a LAHAR-30 (regular sized). The gal at the counter said the ATF has been pushing through some of these eforms FAST. said she's had two in the last week approve withing 48 hours. If you're on the fence because if a wait time, I'd jump on it!

Can confirm. My friend got his approved in two days. Mine has been in jail for four months.

Individual.

It approved today. 2 business days of wait time.
Thats crazy! I have never gone down the NFA rabbit hole, but always thought if I did a trust would be the best route. Glad to hear approvals are what they always should've been ( aside from the fact the whole NFA is unconstitutional to begin with).

NFA newbie (meaning so dont trust my word without fact checking) but i've heard with recent rule/law changes etc a trust isn't really all it's cracked up to be anymore if you don't have someone else you want to actively share ownership of them with. i, for example, can't imagine a scenario any time in the next decade where i'd have a can that someone else would want to shoot without me being present, so no real need for a trust, if my brother or my kids wanted to shoot with my can i'd be with them so still "in posession" of the can.

good to hear the times are dropping. time for me to get back to my research, i was eyeing the rugged alaskan 360 last time i was looking i think.

They have a titanium option now. I think that is what dad is getting if he can find a local shop with one.

Aside from allowing use or just simply possession in your absence, upon your death it becomes contraband and can’t be passed on to your survivors. At least that’s my understanding.

My understanding is this is not correct ( https://www.silencercentral.com/blog/what-happens-to-your-silencer-when-you-die/ ). Name them in your will (easier than adding them to a trust IMHO) and it's a straightforward Form 5 tax free transfer to heirs. Govt can't seize it/it's not contraband.
