Anyone uses wraps on the grip of their bow? If so what do you recommend?

I only have experience with holding trad bow bare. But I want to experiment with grip for comfort. So is there a good medium between minimalist or thick tape? Does it actually reduce hand shock?

I have a compound......but I have the grip wrapped in vet wrap and have had it for multiple seasons. I like the tacky feel and with enough wraps it adds some cushion....

Buy a bicycle inner tube, cut to your length of grip and voila! There's a rubber grip similar to a cut inner tube out there and I was a sucker and bought one then realized I could make a pile of em out of an inner tube for a lot cheaper. Buy a thicker "thornless" tube for a thicker grip and a super el cheapo for a thin grip. I'd suggest staying away from the Slime brand tubes :)
It'll take a little effort to roll it all the way up to the grip portion. If it sucks, roll it or cut it back off and you're only out a couple bucks for an inner tube.

I started with nothing on my Zipper then added the Beaver Tail and loved it. Ordered my new Toelke with Beaver Tail also.

I have wrapped a number of grips, mostly on cold aluminum risers. Tennis wrap works best for me. You can get it padded or unpadded. I prefer the black padded. It works very well and is cheap and durable.

I found the thoat of the grip too small for one of the bow I'm using. I cant get a consistence grip because my index and middle finger overlay. I want to built that section up. Should I just wrap that part or the whole grip but extra wraps on that section?

Might try a couple of short vertical strips added on the sides of the grip then do a single wrap of the handle. May have to play with the placement on the sides and how many vertical strips on each side to get the feel right for what you are looking for.

I had a longbow with a smaller grip than I preferred. I went to hobby lobby and bought a piece of leather that comes in a square smaller than 1 ft. I used two layers of that leather for the grip. I wrapped the longbow grip area in saran wrap to protect it from moisture. Then I wet the leather, stretched it around the grip to conform to the curves with the split in the front and put a spring clamp on it to hold in place til the next day. Once dried it will be shaped to the grip curves and you can trim the top and bottom edges, then trim where the two ends meet and punch holes and sew it up. Makes a nice looking grip and it fits my hand much better.

I have beaver tail on my Thunderchild and leather on my BBO. Nothing on my other bows. I have used the inner tube in the past. It works.
How do you like that Thunderchild? I have one on order.

It’s a fine bow. It was a stock bow I bought from Jim at a shoot in Alabama a couple years ago. I have had quite a few bows over the years and some I wasted money on. This one was money well spent. They are good shooting, forgiving bows. Not real fast but fast enough. Perfect for critter killin.
