Team 10

Forecast has changed to 65 and raining on Saturday, which as far as I've been told doesn't bode well for deer movement, but I'll likely just put on the rain gear, tape my barrel and give it a go. Likely will just still hunt from the ground though so even if I do come across a deer it won't be a contest deer. I figure going in blind I might as well move around slowly since the rain will make it a bit quieter, but open to suggestions if that's a poor plan. I'm returning to some public land I haven't been on in 2-3 years, so going to just head to an area where there was a lot of sign back then and see what I can find. Likely bringing the saddle, ros and 2tc setup in my pack just in case things change and I do wind up climbing a tree.

That weather front is supposed to hit us on Sunday. I'll be out Saturday, so we'll see how that goes. Probably on the ground with the rifle in the AM and then elevated with the bow for the PM...

Hm weird now that I check again it's pushed back to Sunday. So who knows, I suppose fingers crossed it stays on Sunday at this point

Alright team, it's a considerable jump to get back into the leaderboard- not impossible, but a stretch goal. We are only 6 points away from triple digits though, we should be able to do that! I'm itching to get back out with the bow after a goose egg with the gun in AM /bow in PM on Saturday, but weekday hunts are pretty difficult this time of the year and I'll have my kids this weekend so looking like the Saturday after will be my next opportunity. Happy holidays and all that but let's go shoot some more deer!

Well, my buddy and family were sick last weekend, so didn't make that trip down... I did walk around with the rifle and I found some awesome spots to check further, and I pulled a camera I had soaking since March (THE CAMERA FAILED TO TAKE A SINGLE PHOTO and is now in the garbage). If my holiday schedule opens up I might get a hunt in NJ before Christmas, otherwise it'll be doe patrol in PA once it opens the day after Christmas.

Well folks I may be done for the season. Got a lot going on these last few weeks and I boned up during my last hang; got set about 15 minutes before first light and didn’t keep my xbow at the ready like I normally do. Big bodied 8 point came in 15 minutes after first light and I wasn’t as sneakies as I thought I was and he caught me reaching my xbow. Pinned me to the tree with his glare for a good 5 minutes then started blowing like the big bad wolf and stomping like an angry toddler and bounded off. Took a fox off the game board so it wasn’t a total loss. Anyway the wife has said she’ll make sure I get out once next week but we’ll see what happens.

Planning on getting back out there tomorrow. May tack on this afternoon if I can get everything work wise squared away early enough. Would love to continue my most successful season ever with a late season deer (of any sort, Im back on the if it's brown it's down bandwagon after letting some spikes and forks walk earlier in the season)

Well doesn't look like today is happening bot tomorrow will. I have a feeling that the deer have moved on to later season feeding areas and the areas I was in (acorn heavy) that worked well in October don't have as much traffic any more? Not sure so debating going back to a spot I haven't been to all season or returning to the same area where I've shot all my deer (back in October) but haven't seen as many since, and just heading a bit further into the woods than I have so far. May split the day and do half in each, AM in current area, scout last year's spots in midday/afternoon.

My "set it and forget it" cold water maceration euro from my October buck is done (mostly). Need to pick a tiny amount of waxy stuff out of holes and let it dry but looks good. I basically clean as much loose flesh as I can and leave it in a covered water bucket outside. I started this one mid October, changed the water once in November and sprayed it off with a hose, then took it out and sprayed with a hose with my thumb over the end and picked a few little bits off today.

Going to let it dry somewhere my curious weim can't get to it lol.

I had a swing and a miss on Saturday, saw a bunch of deer in the AM but a few saw me and none came.close enough, moved for the PM and saw less deer, further away lol. I'm debating taking Thursday off from work and going out again.

I've been completely absent from the team for a majority of the season, sorry fellas. We had a death in the family early season and I've been hunting with my dad who isn't able to climb much anymore. He enjoys the time sitting together like we used to so thats been a priority when I have time to get out. I've got 3 weeks left in my season and I'm making a late season push! You guys have been putting up great points so far and I hope to contribute before its said and done!

Those are pretty good reasons. Take care of you and yours, good luck rest of the season.

Don't stress over it, anything you have going on is way more important than this! We'll keep you in our prayers.
