TEAM 2 Thread (2023)

Well, I'm still 0/2 this year. Hunting new public land without much scouting is a new challenge. Been ridiculously hot (even for South LA) with the weather just now getting a bit better. Hoping to hit it hard for the next 10 weeks, including a trip up to TN. Kudos to all you guys letting deer walk....they better not walk by me!! :D

Got a nice sized doe today boys. Had a three point go by about an hour after I shot her and a six about half an hour after that. I was holding out but this one came in with another doe and they were feeding and loafing around under me for at least five minutes. I tried for a double but the first doe started sticking her nose up and I wasn’t sensing any bucks coming in, the does didn’t seem preoccupied so as I went to bear down on the closer one she caught a swish of my gear and trotted off about 10 yards and stopped. Only her neck was showing so I short and then swung over to this one and she went right down. I swung back and to my dismay she was trotting away zig zagging and then disappeared. I couldn’t believe I missed her but after I climbed down I did a search of the hit sight and went another fifty in a semi circle with not a speck of hair or blood. She didn’t act hit but she didn’t act completely healthy either. Anyway, it’s five points on the board.

How’s it goin’ team? Now’s the time to keep getting at it! Let’s get some more points on the board! The deer here are super pressured now and I’m not seeing any of my target bucks. Frustrating but we must dig deep and keep the faith. I’m trying to target areas around me that typically are not gun hunted and take my bow or crossbow in to hunt while they gun season pressure cooker is going on.
 
I've spent the last 2 weeks dealing with the Orange Army, so I've put in a few miles scouting/hunting some thicker areas on the boundary of archery only and general areas. Found some good sign and deer but nothing in range or more than 4 points. Where I hunt has a 100 feet from a road rule, and it's like a picket line of hang on's and ladder stands at that mark. I just plot them on OnX, smile and wave at the camera and keep pushing in deeper. I'll get out a couple times this week then the Love of my Life wants to visit her sister for a week, so hopefully by then things have calmed down as everything i've seen has been cautious and jumpy.
@woodsdog2 - saw you're expecting some lake effect this week, one of the many reasons I'm glad i don't live in Upstate NY anymore. Grew up between Syracuse and Watertown.

For sure you know what I’m talking about then. Buffalo and WNY usually get a bad wrap with the snowfall but that area up there where you’re from probably gets more than us!!
 
I'm still grinding it out. We have one more week of gun then muzzleloader for 2 weeks. Still have hope. Been an up and down season so far. Work your tail off them moment of truth a split second has bitten me twice now. Good luck to all and keep grinding.
 
Not much where I live at all perhaps 6” over the course of two days. I know closer to Buffalo as of yesterday some got 15”, some 14 and 13 we made out pretty good. It’s cold though 26 right now
 
What’s going on team let’s keep trying to stack up some points!!! How’s your season going? What’s your strategy now after a few weeks of most gun seasons being open?
 
Still grinding. I feel like I’m narrowing in on a target buck if he will just stick to his current pattern. He has lost a brow tine tho. We are buck only for the next two weeks and then either for remainder of season so I still feel confident

His right side is smokin’ love that g2 and the bladed out main beam tip! Almost looks like a crab claw.Did he finally come into the decoy?
