Had a decent knarly something or other come right underneath my ladder stand last night at 6 yards. Haven’t had that buck on any of the cams. He’s narrow but has decent mass and some junk on his left side. Truth be told, I had already put my release away and was getting ready to climb down and wouldn’t you know it a potential shooter comes in. I had to wait another ten minutes to let things cool down before I could climb down. He had a very unique rack I’m hoping I get him on one of the cameras. I guess I’m glad I didn’t get him as I couldn’t have entered him in the contest and there are other wider deer on that private tract. So close!!!

Any action Team 3 Members? My last sit was Sunday evening, two does under me that's it. Buck activity increasing on my cameras but all night stuff nothinIMG-0926RZ.jpgg daylight. Not hearing from anybody so I'm hoping you're in the woods getting it done!!! Good luck.

I'm not hunting again til firearm season opens here on November 18th. This week is busy and all of next week is a plantwide shutdown that I'll have to be available 24/7 for.... its going to be a doozy.

This is the joker that walked under my tree the other day just after I put my release away. He’s still on that pattern. See the junk on his left side?

Was able to leave work early. Out right now. Just had an 8 go by grunting about it 45 yards away. He was moving upwind east to west grunting the whole way. My bow was still on the ground. Managed to get set up and grunted a couple of times then bleated. He came back west to east. Not sure where he is right now they’re moving!! Pointing where he came through the second time. He’s was upwind to the north of me.

Had this little forky under me this afternoon too. At last light a doe came through and that same eight (I think) from earlier was right on her grunting the whole time. No big boys though. They are definitely in the chase phase here right now.

Sorry I’ve been away team. Getting back out there this weekend but the weather looks crummy. Warm and windy with a rain front coming in at 10. Are deer going to move much before a rain front? I’ve seen them move a bit after. I’m debating on scouting while it’s windy or being set up and sitting through the storm. Good luck to anyone else hunting this morning.

I've always had good luck before rainstorms. Good luck this weekend.

Warm, wet, and very windy in Illinois today.

Was out yesterday all day. Went in on public to let things settle on the private tract I hunt. (My buddy the landowner crossbow hunts a little bit he’s not too serious but I wanted him to have the property to himself a couple of days (he would never tell me no even if he wanted too) plus my little
Voice told me to go on a public tract I had trail cams on all early spring through the early fall. I had some good pics of two decent bucks hitting a scrape I found way back in about a mile. I was all settled in. I went the long way in based in the wind( it is gorgeous country.) Anyway, about 10 or so I started to get antsy. I’ve tried to remove most stuff from my saddle and just put my Doyle’s, tether dump pouch on my pack so my saddle stays light. I didn’t like the position I had the Doyle’s so it seemed like action was slow so I started to move it taking the truck-glides out, I made a little scraping noise by accident pssst!!! There goes a decent buck he was coming in to check that scrape I was downwind from!!! Grrrr! What an amateur mistake!!! Grrrr!! I was so mad at myself. He was at least an 8 but not a 2 1/2 year old probanly a 31/2 year old not 100% sure!! He wasn’t a monster but he was a very respectable buck. So then I also get a picture of this big boy I from the private tract I usually hunt and come to find out my buddy wasn’t even hunting!! He went up to his daughters to see his grandkids for the day!! Oh well. Going back in today after I take my daughters to school for an all day rut sit. I prefer to be there by first light but you have to hunt when you can. I’m hoping the rest of you have better luck than me. You have to zoom in on the buck but he’s pretty decent for my area.
