Telescoping tubing need some ideas on the stick

Here's the short LW. Had to replace one set of stock standoffs with DanO's stand off. It's actually better, with more distance from the tree and more foot room with an aider (bottom stick)

Iwould be worried that the telescoping tube wouldnt telescope smoothly anymore after welding. Heat distortion is real
