So I'm using the Hunters Safety System tree strap thing for a tether. It works and I like it but it wants to drop down the tree if it doesn't have weight on it. When I set it to the height I want if I don't immediately put weight on it it's hard to keep in position, anyway around this? Like something to hold it in place? It doesn't have to be load bearing just hold it.
 
For the rope versions alot of guys use a castration band

For the strap u could try that or something else that u can snug up to the girth hitch area
