Hey all!

So yesterday I was fortunate enough to go down to @Erniepower house and get a 1 on 1 demo of his saddles, platforms, and climbing equipment. I got to see a guidos web, trophyline, evo, and kestrel. It was good to see all the options because I was in the process of trying to figure out which saddle to buy.

After showing me all those saddles, Ernie broke out a prototype of the Mantis. It was all rolled up and I just thought it was one of the sys pouches.

First impression, that thing was super light. My sweaty socks are heavier. It rolls up real small. Will be real easy to pack that sucker in.

I didn't go up in the air with it. Just tried it clipped in with my feet on the ground. Was very comfortable leaning back and sitting. I'm 6'1" 215lb with a 36 inch waist and the xl fit good. Might have been a tad big but with my cold weather clothes on it'll be good. The linemans belt loops are big enough so it's easy to clip in. The leg straps clip in real easy and I liked the waist belt, clips just like my harness at work. I also liked the back band. Folds up super small and will come in very handy for those all day sits.

I also got to see a prototype of the predator platform. Didn't set it up, just held it, but I like how flat it packs up and how light it is.

I don't have any experience with saddle hunting yet but I am really excited to use a saddle set up vs. my stand and sticks. I was considering getting something used to ease into saddle hunting, but I feel the Tethrd set up is going to be my best option.

I also want to thank Ernie for welcoming me to his home and taking the time to show me all the different saddles and saddle hunting equipment. It was a great learning experience.

Very cool!! I’m sure it was just as fun for Ernie showing you all the toys!

Lol it truly is a blast to help new saddle hunters. Lord knows I have enough junk in the closet to be able to show a bunch of options to people.

Tethrd really seems like a great team of people! I spoke with Greg on the phone friday, and he was really patient with all of my questions and was genuinely excited to talk about saddle hunting and their gear. I put in an order on friday for the Mantis, and i couldn't be more excited to get into the world of saddle hunting.

Welcome aboard. How coo was that, to get to see and learn from one of the best?

Oh oh.. Reading this has me a little concerned. I just ordered a "Large" Mantis a couple of days ago. I am 6ft 200lbs with a 38 waist. I am wondering now if I should have ordered an "XL"...

No. You'll be fine in an L. Our XL is pretty darn big.
I am worried as well now.... I wear a 33-34 and ordered a large. To have room with clothes on during winter

After reading your post I went and measured my waist. I'm a 38 not a 36. Wife's cooking must be catching up with me
