Hey all!
So yesterday I was fortunate enough to go down to @Erniepower house and get a 1 on 1 demo of his saddles, platforms, and climbing equipment. I got to see a guidos web, trophyline, evo, and kestrel. It was good to see all the options because I was in the process of trying to figure out which saddle to buy.
After showing me all those saddles, Ernie broke out a prototype of the Mantis. It was all rolled up and I just thought it was one of the sys pouches.
First impression, that thing was super light. My sweaty socks are heavier. It rolls up real small. Will be real easy to pack that sucker in.
I didn't go up in the air with it. Just tried it clipped in with my feet on the ground. Was very comfortable leaning back and sitting. I'm 6'1" 215lb with a 36 inch waist and the xl fit good. Might have been a tad big but with my cold weather clothes on it'll be good. The linemans belt loops are big enough so it's easy to clip in. The leg straps clip in real easy and I liked the waist belt, clips just like my harness at work. I also liked the back band. Folds up super small and will come in very handy for those all day sits.
I also got to see a prototype of the predator platform. Didn't set it up, just held it, but I like how flat it packs up and how light it is.
I don't have any experience with saddle hunting yet but I am really excited to use a saddle set up vs. my stand and sticks. I was considering getting something used to ease into saddle hunting, but I feel the Tethrd set up is going to be my best option.
I also want to thank Ernie for welcoming me to his home and taking the time to show me all the different saddles and saddle hunting equipment. It was a great learning experience.
