Anyone else have fraying from the T-clips on a Tethrd Mantis saddle? Both the leg straps that go around my thighs and hook back to my saddle are starting some serious fraying. I been looking at it and the radii on the slots on these t-clips are not deburred very well to be honest. Full disclosure, I was a machinist in the Army, I have continued in the civilian world, and I have a small machine shop of my own so I know what a burr looks like on a machined surface, and these have burrs on them.
My concern is the straps will wear out faster than the rest of the saddle and won't stay snug. I have only had my Mantis a year, been used maybe 30 times, it shouldn't have that much wear seeing that small amount of action. There is not enough room to file these burrs off with the straps in place, no easy way to remove them since the ends of the strap are folded over and sewn so they don't fall off when not in use. I am thinking after the season I will cut the stitches out and remove them to do a proper de-burr then have the straps re-sewn. No more anodized pretty finish, lol.
Mostly curious if anyone else has seen this? I'm not complaining about the saddle, just bringing this up in case others see it on theirs, if anyone had a more serious problem with it, has anyone else thought it necessary to fix? I did the old army trick and singed the frays with a flame and they are coming back again so over time the strap will get slippery/smooth is my guess, and not stay snug.
Thoughts?
