I stayed up all night reading as I only discovered this site yesterday.
I have a lot of questions. Thanks for the replies so far.
I'm 6'4", 240lbs naked. 56 years old. Pretty good condition.
Live in southern Wisconsin. Looking to get into hunting from some kind of a sling.
I don't know yet what a Ropeman is. I have an inkling of what a multi step aider is, but have no idea where to find or how to use. I've been looking at the New Tribe Evo and the Guidos Web, but I see a lot of people like the SitDrag as well. I'm ready to learn.

I would probably start out with the Evo or a Trophyline Tree Saddle.

Get on YouTube and search for the Wild Country Ropeman. The videos will answer that question. We use them for our lineman belts and our tethers.

You can also search for "etriers". Most guys here are using etriers (aiders) attached to the bottoms of their climbing sticks.

Search for answers to your questions, or just ask. Everyone here is eager to help spread saddle hunting love to all Hunters.

Welcome to the site! The ropeman 1 is an ascender that rock climbers and arborists use for climbing rope. We use them as a replacement for a prussic knot. Because they capture progress on the rope, you can use it to easily adjust the length of the tether or lineman's belt.
This is what an aider looks like:

I personally think the new tribe aero hunter is a great saddle for a new saddle hunter. It is extremely well made, and most importantly is very safe. The sit and drag is sold as a ground seat. It is cheap and minimal but is not intended to be used off the ground so we recommend that anyone who uses it back it up with a rock climbing harness for safety.

Welcome to the site!! Like others have said if you have questions please don't hesitate to ask as this site is very informative and cutting edge so to speak. The members are stand up guys. I could only imagine that your brain must have been overloaded lol when seeing all this new stuff for the first time. If I could offer advice I would suggest to start off slow and before shelling out cash for something your unsure of ask someone on here as most of us have spent a small fortune because we have an addiction to saddles and tinkering and have tried alot of gear throughout our journies. Welcome again!!
