Friday -Sunday 10/28-30 was supposed my prime weekend to hunt- the wknd before the gumn opener. I took Friday off of work just so I could hunt (MN). But.. these days turned out to be crappy hunting as the temps were in low 70s Fri and sat and 62 yesterday. Yes deer will still move around some.. what really spoiled the wknd was the amount of people out in the woods. when I arrived to the public area I selected to hunt- the parking lot was jam packed with hikers, bikers, dog walkers, small game hunters, picnickers etc.. I had never seen that area lot so filled where every park spot was taken.. so I abandoned that plan. No deer would be moving around w that big of a crowd- and the deer are skiddish in that area.
yesterday I went to a different pub land that I had not hunted before. it was a little too thick to shoot anywhere from the ground.. I made the best of it -no movement tho . Not surprised given the warmer temps. So my weekend was a burn out.. have any of you reading this had this (summer like weather) interrupt your hunting plans recently? Also,we are in a draught and so far our state is 10” down in precip. The marshes are dry and the only green plant remaining in the woods is buckthorn. I’m focused in huntng areas having a high stem count where deer are comfortable and cooler in the day. This coming wknd is the gun opener so I will need to go to a place that is archery hunting only. I did learn for future times- if the weather is nice like it is now- avoid lands that have shared multipurpose trails.. cuz every ding rod w a dog and nice running shoes will be out.
your thoughts?

Sorry to hear you had a rough time of it. Any chance you can take off during the week and work weekends? Also, consider hunting that area when it is raining. Not monsoon rain or lightning, just a rainy day. Even on weekends that should cut down on the tourists. Of course, you re in a drought, so are we. When it's hot I like to focus on creeks and low areas. Sometimes I will drop down into a creek and it will be ten degrees cooler. Take a ThermaCell if you do this. Mosquitos like the creeks too.

I am scheduled to be off this coming friday and the forecasted temp is 85 and above normal wind. That is to be followed by rain all day saturday with strong wind. If I hunt friday it will prolly be in super thick areas with high preference browse because I do not expect them to move well with the weather conditions.

Unfortunately I can’t really take wkdays off unless it’s far in advance to get coverage. my job is a M-F one. I am waiting for a hunting day where there’s a mild rain and temps in 30s - those are the ideal times for deer movemen. better yet are the nights before a big cold front moves in- when they start moving around
