The Best Public-Legal Climbing Method

No problem
I'm local to you and we know quite a few of the same people. I'm daydreaming of thickets and elevated hunting positions as well but stuck at work until lunch tomorrow.
Lol. I'm stuck at work surrounded by chucklemonkeys in Halloween costumes. But I'm off at lunch tomorrow as well.

Maybe all three of us will kill something in this front!

Cool to see this thread come back up.

...I bought a cheapo pack of elastic strap keepers that I use to manage my dangling straps. Weighs nothing, no bulk, works well.
If you're cheap like me, you can take a narrow bicycle tire and cut strips out of it to form some really awesome and strong rubber bands. I just keep a couple popped tubes around and always have them when needed!

I am in Minnesota and it is currently 26 degrees out and I am stuck at work reviewing grant applications today and tomorrow. After that my rut vacation starts and I am mostly off for the next two weeks. Hard to concentrate on work right now.

I'm probably just an idiot, but I think I need a bit more help on what this looks like.

Don't need a video or anything. But I'd be much obliged if you had any further description of these products and how you use them.

My strap step climbing journey begins real soon!

Imo way easier. You give up couple seconds threading buckle but than I don’t have to worry about that dam hook and my steps falling off tree and sounding like wind chimes :)
Shucks you guys!

I've waited all this time since this thread started to make a move on this system. I saw the options show up at EWO and wondered which was better. I finally place my order for straps this very morning (with the flat hook), only to see these comparison posts pop up after the fact.

Dang it!

Just more stuff to buy and tinker with later on I guess.

This overall SH financial outlay reminds me of the guy who, when I was shopping for my first deer gun, told me that I would end up spending more on the ammo than on the gun.

Saddles are cheap. It's the endless "little" purchases of mods, climbing systems, etc that get you.

In contrast, I like the hooks a lot better. With cold wet hands threading the strap sucks.

Been loving mine with the flathooks for the handful of times I've gotten to use them. They're solid as a rock, quiet and surprisingly quick. Once I got the rhythm down I was very efficient with them. The only thing I'm going to do to mine is stealth strip the buckles and find a different pouch to put them in. I would really love a pouch like DanO made for Nutter. I have 11 steps and 1 ros with 5 steps and can get to 24ish feet at just under 10lbs. Costumer service was great.
