Just watched the newest episode of HP and now they are using 1 saddle and Predator for the cameraman and still using one stand.

that makes a ton of sense imo. The camera man really needs to be facing the hunter the whole time anyways, right?

Just saw the video! Need to drop the other hang on and go all out! That will cut the weight for their deep pushes into the woods

Yeah, you’d think DIY Sportsman (aka bowhunter15) would have helped them see the light!!!!!

Thought I heard him say on his podcast that ideally the hunter is in a lock on and the camera man is in the saddle. Makes sense based on the angle. Although a gnarly oak would work well.

OK I will probably get slammed for this but there are times where a LW is a better choice then a saddle for hunting. Like anything, these are tools and seldom does one tool work at all locations. I use a Waldrop's and sling seat for ground hunting, 3 different saddles and 5 or 6 LW stands every single year. I have some trees still prepped with Stepps, others I use a boat buckle and 4-5 steps, while others I use a platform. USE WHAT WORKS BEST FOR THAT SITUATION. I even have one stand that is a semi permanent pit blind where I am actually in the lake with my waders sitting on a regular chair with water up to me knees in some cattails. One of my decisions that I make when I prep a spot is what will work best here. And that can change as the season progresses and foliage disappears.

I will say this Dave, I do have one spot on a saddle between 2 ridges up north that has been good to me during the peak of the rut for several years. There is a certain hemlock tree where my uncomfortable Loc on limit fits in between the limbs perfectly. For me to hunt it saddle style and maneuver my bow around would require me to delimb it like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
Great video, nice to see them using the system!

I see Catman outdoors got his saddle now as well, I like his channel. He is on here and i recall he was asking some questions about it last month.

The point 100rollie brings up is the biggest issue I see with the saddle, if you have a super limby/brushy tree you would have to cut so much to get your saddle in there unless you only planned on shooting to around your 6 o'clock position which wouldnt make sense as you would have to constantly look behind you. That is where a hang on is nice, you can essentially just cut a hole big enough for the stand and you and at least have shooting between your 10 and 2 o'clock typically
