I have exactly one hunting sit (3 hours) in a saddle so far, so keep that in mind, but I agree. I don't have a back band but in using a ring of steps I thought the most comfortable position was to simply embrace the tree. It was a relatively small tree. Knees against the tree (using Arcteryx) in seated position was second best. Leaning was 3rd.
One thing that I kept thinking about as far as comfort was where the saddle was on my body. When I would stand and lean it would work its way up higher on its own which was mostly comfortable. But then when I'd want to sit I'd have to take pressure off of it and adjust it down below my butt to have more surface to sit on. It was a pain to do and created even more movement. It felt like the saddle was too short/small. I'm 6' 215 with a not huge beer belly and no butt. I bought a size 2 Kite.
Granted it was one sit and I'm sure there's some "saddle shape" to get into. I just kept thinking that if this thing had 2-3 more inches on the top and bottom it would be wrap my body more. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome saddle! Probably just a newbie figuring out how to use it right.
