Hi-I'm from the metro Detroit area...Plymouth. I've been going back and forth for the past couple years about pulling the trigger on getting into saddle hunting. I pulled it last night! Ordered the Mantis kit, the Ropeman 1 Ascender, the back band, and a set of 8 Wild Edge Steps... I know there are definitely some other things I should be ordering ASAP...I'm still kinda in the dark about all the terms and techniques...but I at least wanted to get the saddle ordered due to the long wait. I used to hunt private...but had pretty limited success...and I'm hoping to utilize the saddle technique to get me out in public...as mobile and remote as I can get. I plan on asking a lot of questions! Thanks in advance.

Welcome from bama!!! I'm also new to saddle hunting and went with the mantis. This forum is addicting and I can't stay off of it. Anyways goodluck this upcoming season.

Currently sitting in my desk at work Plymouth! Goodluck and have fun getting into saddle hunting. I drive about an hour from here to the public land I hunt

Small world...you probably hunt one of the areas I am eyeballing. At some point, I want to head up north to the upper lower or the UP for some extreme remoteness and swamps.

I grew up in Canton, now living in Adrian, working in ... Livonia (oof). But seriously, if you have the private land option around here, keep it - and take me with you. Our public is tough.

PS: Welcome!

Welcome from MA. Welcome to the site where all of your wildest saddle hunting questions will be answered. Make sure to read the past posts, especially the one for new saddle hunters. Lots of good info from folks that took the time to consolidate it just for you. That being said ,this group is the helpingest group I know. ENJOY THE RIDE.

Welcome to the site!! You can roll with that. if your gonna go we stepps as platform then practice that setup over & over ( pretty tricky getting 3 set tight at same ht)

Welcome from Wisconsin. I lived in your area for 3 years back in the early 90’s. Watched some nice bucks with the camera up by Auburn Hills but never hunted while I was there. Good luck this season.
