The SCAM Outdoor Brands Don't Want You To Know!

Boom. Yall boys better getchaselves a rain kilt.
I've been sitting under an umbrella while hunting in the rain for years and I've actually been seriously considering a poncho option for raingear as opposed to my traditional coat/coverall. My issue is I'm picky about noisy fabrics and I hate buying camo online without at least having some indication as to how noisy it will be.

I I have a 20 year old set of Cabela's Gortex bibs and jacket. Im not being a fan boy. But I have sat in a down poor for a few hours hunting, and I was dry when I took it off. I do agree that I don't think it breathes as advertised.
If I ever purchase another set of cold weather bibs and jacket, I will not be specifically looking for Gortex. But I wouldn't shy away from it if it had the other stuff I liked.

I have a GI woodland pattern ECWCS jacket and pants that are supposedly gotetex and military grade. The jacket is awesome and when you put it over a fleece and decent base layers it really cuts the wind and water quite well. It’s very warm too. Problem is it doesn’t pass the fingernail test so I use it for trapping and outdoor work and post season scouting forays when I don’t care how noisy I am. It’s tough as nails though!

Yes. My Gortex is noisy as well. I only wear it when it's really cold, or raining. I don't care about the noise if it's raining. But on a calm cold morning it makes a lot of extra noise.

My current rain gear is the Dry Plus stuff from BassPro. The outer layer is a pretty soft fleece like material and it's actually pretty quiet. The goretex liner keeps the rain off but I still condensate inside if walking. The only down side to it for me is that outer layer does act a bit like velcro on tree bark. I need to be careful what I lean against so I don't make noise pulling away.

Sitting down any thing will work good.but hiking is a different story. here in the great north west i dont waist 1 extra dollar on gortex.you get just as wet as you do in cheep rain gear and nothing is breathable when it has a solid flow of water on it.gortex also cracks if you wash and dry it witch realy hurts when its 500 dollars.you wont catch anyone on a north west fishing boat wearing gortex.there are lighter weight more packable ,equaly quiet options that cost a fraction of the price and keep you just as dry.like kings and habit .i n western oregon if you dont like hunting wet than you just dont like hunting period
