what knot did you use there?
Lol I’m wrapped up in that exact throw on my couch right nowFigured I’d make anotherView attachment 25170
Hip pinch in a fleece saddle means the fleece is too short and the knot is to close to the hips. IMHO
See you in a tree, Ricky

Thanks. I'm trying to parse this all out. Are you talking only about how a short fleece moves knots toward you automatically or is there another variable like moving knots up or down towards your head, etc?
You’re over thinking this. He is saying if the knots are at/touching hips it isn’t going to be comfortable. If you look at the example I posted you’ll notice that the knots are above my waist. The two fleece saddles I have made I have used a entire 50 x 60 “ throw folded in half such that the stretch is parallel to the length of the saddle I.e. if you pull at the two knots where the bridge connects it will stretch.Thanks. No. I would sew down all tag ends with some stitches where possible. That's just me being extra cautious. So you mean fold the knot and then sew the tag end of fleece back to itself so it can't slip free through the amsteel....or were you being comical and trying to get me killed?
Don’t copy mine from the photo that was just me fooling around with some different knots. I personally use the sheet bend knot. The fleece saddle that I hunted this season from used the sheet bend knot as well. I can’t guarantee even the sheet bend knot; however I do know how to tie it and I can show pictures.I've tied scaffold knots several times, but I'm a bit concerned because the tag end of your knot is going in an unexpected direction.

If I were to tied a scaffold knot for that, the tag end would be pointing in the sky.
I'm unsure how you pulled that off.
I went back and edited my comment.. gonna delete my photos too. I don’t want someone who is just skimming to think the way I tied that while fooling around with knot combinations is somehow the safest. Sorry for the confusion.I've tied scaffold knots several times, but I'm a bit concerned because the tag end of your knot is going in an unexpected direction.

Bringing back the thread!
I am now two seasons into using my DIY fleece with a Petzl Aspir harness. The biggest issue I have is storage. Currently I use a pack to carry my sticks and all my stuff, then unload at the tree and wear my pack up while I climb with my ring of steps and bow/gear holder in a fanny pack so I can reach it when I get to my top step, even though I really just need a little space for range finder, snacks, water, and maybe a jacket once I am actually up there. The only reason I haven’t gone to one stick and rappel is because I need to bing this pack with me anyways to fit those few items up the tree so it’s just easier to climb sticks.
Has anyone used any good dump pouches or anything off their RC harness? No molle attachments and I don’t want to sew into it because I have a lineman’s loop slid around it. If I could get two good pouches I’d be set and could ditch the pack.
If only trees looked, felt and smelled like that.....I wouldn’t ever come home.View attachment 1555 We can hunt like this!
The old threads on saddle hunter are the best... Now that u can just buy everything is kinda no fun anymore.... @justsomedude I don't know if u still on here or if u over it and moved on but u has some of the best ideas
Haha, is it cool?He was an innovator. If you search you can find a thread where he was climbing with two tethers long before it was cool.
