Does anybody have one of each? If so, can you post a side by side size comparison?

I had both until this week but sold the UP on here on Monday. Sorry, I never took a side by side but I can tell you the UP did not feel like the predator at all. It also made the stick feel heavy and unwieldy. It was stable though. I am officially over the ‘platform on a stick’ concept and have decided to go with as light of a one stick as possible and an independent cam over platform. There’s my unsolicited 2 cents if it helps :)

This is essentially what I settled on as well, a good 1stick setup and a cam over platform. I like having the stick sitting 90° offset on the tree for extra walk around room, and the comfort of a full platform.

I don’t think we’re alone with that philosophy. I saw the guy I sold the UP to put it up for sale and sold it the same day it was delivered

I really wanted to love it because on paper it just seems like a more seamless set up at the tree. But in my opinion what you’re getting (and this goes for all the stick platforms that I have tried, which is 3) is a mediocre platform and a clumsier climb.

By lightening the stick as much as possible, you can use a cam over platform - and at the scale the two systems are very comparable in terms of weight.

Some guys are going to love the UP because it is very well designed for what it is and is very stable.

Me too. The main reason is that I like the added benefit of being able to use the separate stick as a step on the backside of the tree from the platform so I can walk around the tree (sort of like a ring of steps) if I need to.

Yup, it’s like a complimentary squirrel step lol. I just saw your video on the timber hitch for a platform and am going to give that a shot. Ditching the cam buckle on the platform would be pleasant, but I digress.

@_Dario what other stick platforms did you try?

I tried the hawk helium slanted scout. I wasn’t crazy about the stand-off room of the helium and I definitely didn’t like the slanted feature. It made the platform feel that much shorter. And it wasn’t really stable (using 1/4” amsteel full bury and Schaefer).

I also tried the flat scout for my DIY stick made from EWO parts. This was better than the last but still don’t feel the benefits were worth the extra bulk in my pack.

So now I have settled on my EWO stick that has two double steps and a feather stick. I picked up a mission which I have yet to try but my stick snaps together perfectly into the platform and the whole thing weighs 9lb (pictured below) Nine pounds!! I can climb any tree that I want to as high as I want to for only 9lb with a mission. 7lb with the predator. It all fits perfectly into my MR pop up 28.

I liked Joe’s videos of one sticking and using the Predator. But I was really enticed by the idea of the EWO feather stick and UP.

This info has me leaning towards just using one of my FXD sticks as a one stick and a Predator.

Good feedback...thx guys.

Could you link the video you are talking about? I'm really on the cusp of giving one sticking a try and trying to figure out if I want a platform on my stick or not. I already own a Predator, so this sounds interesting to me.

These two are probably the main one’s we were referencing. Joe has some other videos about single sticking as well.

Get the measurements. Ruler, paper, pencil. Draw it out. #yougotthisman

I'll try to get a side by side comparison pic up. Im away from my gear.
Dario did a good job breaking down the +/-.
-probably a dozen long winded you tube reviews of each platform by now.

I have both, sorry I'm not next to my gear to get a pic. I will say I am VERY new to one sticking, however, gave the UP a couple of test runs today and I am very happy with it. I am a stand and turn around to shoot to my weakside guy and found I can navigate this move as easily on the UP platform as I can on the Predator.

Side by side comp.
Predator on UP
UP on Predator
UP next to Scout.
Have to try it out now and decide what I’m keeping.
