The Wraptor

It certainly will help. I sewed a few stitches at the rings already and that solved the twisting issue. Those may not be needed with this setup, but not going to remove them now.

I didn't use the rings though and used the aluminum d rings instead. I might try to put a few stitches there and see if it helps. Thanks for the tip.

I have these since the other ones were unavailable, however, they seem much lighter than others pictured in this thread. Do you think I’m good with them?
Thanks!
I almost ordered those at one point. No reason they will not work and are rated at 23kn.

I have to admit, when I saw "The Wraptor", the first thing I thought was "these guys completely lost there minds!". Thinking somebody had gone out and bought a Wraptor rope ascender for their saddle :D

Put a quiet electric motor with a battery on that sucker and all of Saddlehunter world will be all over it!

Now there's an idea!! Somebody here will have one rigged up by Christmas!

Quick questions, about how much time does it take to put one of these together? Also, if you wanted to add leg loops, would that be easy? Was thinking of something similar to the Tactisaddle setup, that might fill the void like your fleece? where are you guys finding the aluminum D rings since they are out of stock most places? Thanks

If you are handy with a sewing machine this can be done in 30 minutes or so from start to finish. I got my rings and webbing from eastern woods when I made mine.

Leg loops could be done in various ways, but none would be difficult. The only time I think they would be relevant for me is when one sticking and rappelling, but it has worked fine for me without them. The key is to either sew in a belt or using the bungie cord to keep it in place when you stand up and have some slack as you climb.

Thanks for the info. How did you like this one vs the Mantis or Flex? The Manits rode up on me, I could never get comfortable in it. 1-2hr was ok, but anything longer, I would be adjusting all the time. I used a Flex this year, much more comfortable, but 3/4 of my spots, a LW hang on would work better due to the type of trees and the setups needed. instead of having a bunch of $ tied up in a saddle setup, I was thinking this might be a great option. still want comfort, ease of packability, ect....

The Wraptor is more comfortable than a Mantis, and is a draw with the Flex, for me. Each have their own strong points. Also, keep an eye on the Treehopper site, he has an improved Anderson coming out that has linesman and leg loops incorporated for a reasonable price for those that choose not to make their own.

Great info. I've tried belts on my Anderson and went back to the original w/adjusters through the ovals. I like it better because you just pull it snug from either side. With it through the ovals or a new ring like shown earlier the second seat doesn't sag down in back, the belt pulls both seats evenly.

I'm going to make a wraptor. I'm wondering if it will work with a drt climbing method like what the NY Saddlehunter guys are doing. Maybe with adding a belt of some kind to the wraptor.

See post #253. I have rappelled with this one with no issues. I put a non-load bearing belt on one, but you could easily use rated webbing and a cobra style buckle instead. You can also add leg loops the same way the new Treehopper Anderson did.

Do you think leg straps add a safety value? I believe I would have to do something pretty stupid before I would be in danger of falling out of the saddle even without the belt or straps. Would probably need the belt for drt method though.
