There has to be a way that can be developed to make a sit down stand up method of climbing the tree with my sit drag that is not so time consuming!!!! Thoughts?
 
yes...lightweight and portable. I watched the youtube video of the guy using a stick with a cinch rope and piece of pallet wood and made my own version but its the same as the other methods I have tried....not enough bite per movement of the rope. My web aider is much faster.
 
The only advantage with the wood platform is easier balance. If you can balance on a long aider, that's as good as it can get.

If you made tree connections like a climber stand, that would be next level but portability starts to go out the window.

I would be interested to see a tiny hand climber setup with just foot connections instead of a platform but a webbing rig folds up into a little pouch...
 
Maybe something like this. You could combine this with a tether... use the rope like the bottom portion of the climber...
