Things saddle hunters say:

My 8mm line with 6mm friction hitch is too bulky, what can I use that is smaller lighter and more compact? :tearsofjoy:

I haven’t seen many people doing this on this forum but on the Facebook saddle hunter pages, (smh) I am noticing a trend….

I don't quiet understand the need to go as small as possible. 9mm is a great balance IMHO. SRTing with 8mm eat up my hands without gloves. And I gave dynaglyde a try for retrival ropes and it ate me up too.

But I am pretty sure we'll see the day when amsteel 1/8 being use for ropes. I forgot where but I remember a guy on Youtube using 7/32 amsteel daisy chain as a lineman rope...
