119 years ago today was the 3rd largest structure fire in US history. Prior to this happening the area that was burned was 1 of the most prominent neighborhoods in the south. It was hollywood of the south.

The Great Fire of 1901 was the most destructive event in Jacksonville’s history, wiping out 2,368 buildings while leaving nearly 10,000 people homeless and destroying the majority of Downtown Jacksonville.
